Sales tax is estimated from your ZIP: your state's rate plus its average local rate (Tax Foundation, as of July 1, 2026). Your exact rate depends on your street address, so edit the field if you know it. Tax is charged where the dealer receives the gun, which is normally in your own state. It's applied to the sticker and any card fee. Some states also tax shipping; that's left out here.
State gun taxes. California adds an 11% excise tax on firearm sales and Colorado adds 6.5%, on top of sales tax. Some cities and counties add their own; those aren't included.
Card fees. Some retailers list a cash price and add a surcharge for cards. Bud's Gun Shop adds 3%. Switch to "Cash / e-check" to see the difference.
Estimated shipping est. Some retailers only show shipping at checkout. For those, shipping is estimated as the average that retailers who charge shipping ask for the same gun, and the total is marked as an estimate. Retailers that ship free aren't counted in that average.
Transfer fee. Dealers set their own, and published fees run from about $20 to $80. Enter your dealer's price. A pistol (legally a handgun, including AR-style pistols) has to be transferred by a dealer in your state of residence.
